Youth author and teacher

Sally believes emphatically that the educated tourist is a respectful tourist and that children want to learn about things different to their own experiences and absorb other cultures.

In this talk at TEDxCanberra 2011, Sally talks about her own passion for travel, her writing, and how she believes we can engage young people in the cultures and places they travel to.

Sally Webster is passionate about communicating. It’s what she lives for. She is an author, academic and award-winning marketing communications professional. She has worked out a way to combine these skills, along with her enthusiasm to learn more about others by writing travel novels that creatively market a destination and its culture to young readers.

She is completing her Ph.D. in Communication on ways to ‘Creatively market the city of Barcelona to young readers through travel novels’. This is really an excuse to communicate her passions through cultural education, particularly Barcelona, but she is already planning on writing travel novels for young readers about Edinburgh, France, Singapore and Bangkok, and she won’t stop there!
