Dr. William DeJean is a former English and AVID teacher who currently lectures in education at Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia.
He has taught both at the high school and university level, and continues to collaborate with AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) teachers in Australia and throughout the United States. In 2002 he was named San Diego County teacher of the year.
While William’s research focuses on teacher identity as it relates to literacy, multicultural education, and topics of social justice, he spends much of time teaching, supporting AVID in Australia, and dreaming of what just might be possible…
