About the Expression of Interest
While we hope that there will be enough places at TEDxCanberra for everyone, there is a chance that won’t be the case. The experience of TEDx events in Australia and overseas is that they are often oversubscribed, with more people wanting to attend than there are seats available.
This is why we’re inviting you to submit an expression of interest in attending TEDxCanberra. This helps us to gauge the interest in this event. You will also be notified ahead of time when tickets go on sale (sometime in early September).
Distribution of tickets
If we are in the unfortunate position of having more expressions of interest than we have seats (and we hope we won’t be), we will be inviting people to TEDxCanberra.
While we haven’t made a final decision on ticket distribution, we’ll be doing that in the most equitable way we can; either first in, best dressed or a ballot. This will depend on final numbers of expressions. The more expressions we have, the more likely we’ll do a ballot. And of course, we’ll only do this if (and only if) we have more interested people than seats.
Of course, we’re looking for a balance of views, interests and origins as well as ensuring a mix of newcomers to TEDx and those that have attended a TEDx or similar events before. A diverse audience will make the day better. TEDxCanberra is not going to have special guests or VIPs. Everyone will be on an equal footing.
Submit an Expression of Interest
In the interests of understanding who wants to come and making sure the audience is as diverse as possible, we’re asking that you give us some information about yourself. There are only a few mandatory fields, and we really don’t expect you to fill this out slavishly. But… the more information you give us, the easier it will be for us to understand who you are. The information will go in the conference attendee booklet, so you can get to know your fellow attendees.
By the way, you can sign up to be informed about the progress of TEDxCanberra by using the Sign up for email updates form in the sidebar to the right.
