TEDx­Can­berra is a vol­un­teer run, non­profit ideas event that brings the inter­na­tion­ally recog­nised TED brand to the National Cap­i­tal once a year in the Spring for an inde­pen­dently organ­ised TEDx event.

The highly suc­cess­ful inau­gural TEDx­Can­berra 2010 — Think­ing Way Beyond, which attracted a full house audi­ence of 300 to the NLA The­atre to hear 17 pre­sen­ters includ­ing as 2010 Aus­tralian of the Year, Pro­fes­sor Pat McGorry; pol­icy reform advo­cate, Miriam Lyons; futur­ist, Mark Pesce; sci­ence com­mu­ni­ca­tor, Kristin Alford and Nobel lau­re­ate and author of the recent Cli­mate Com­mis­sion report, The Crit­i­cal Decade, Will Steffen.

TEDx­Can­berra 2011 — Reflec­tions. Hap­pen­ings. Pre­dic­tions. once again sold out with an audi­ence from across Aus­tralia vis­it­ing the cap­i­tal to hear pre­sen­ters such as mil­i­tary ethi­cist Dr Stephen Cole­man, Yale and ANU pro­fes­sor Thomas Pogge, social entre­pre­neur Rebecca Scott, sci­ence the­atre troupe Boho Inter­ac­tive and ACT Young Aus­tralians fo the Year Sam Prince and Pierre Johan­nessen, among others.

TEDx­Can­berra brings ideas, the­atre, thinkers, inno­va­tors and enjoy­ment to the region with some of Can­berra and Australia’s most inter­est­ing pre­sen­ters tak­ing the stage to deliver their “ideas worth spreading”.

TEDx­Can­berra 2012 will address the theme “An Opti­mistic Chal­lenge” and will take place on Sat­ur­day, 8 September.
