TEDxCanberra is a volunteer run, nonprofit ideas event that brings the internationally recognised TED brand to the National Capital once a year in the Spring for an independently organised TEDx event.
The highly successful inaugural TEDxCanberra 2010 — Thinking Way Beyond, which attracted a full house audience of 300 to the NLA Theatre to hear 17 presenters including as 2010 Australian of the Year, Professor Pat McGorry; policy reform advocate, Miriam Lyons; futurist, Mark Pesce; science communicator, Kristin Alford and Nobel laureate and author of the recent Climate Commission report, The Critical Decade, Will Steffen.
TEDxCanberra 2011 — Reflections. Happenings. Predictions. once again sold out with an audience from across Australia visiting the capital to hear presenters such as military ethicist Dr Stephen Coleman, Yale and ANU professor Thomas Pogge, social entrepreneur Rebecca Scott, science theatre troupe Boho Interactive and ACT Young Australians fo the Year Sam Prince and Pierre Johannessen, among others.
TEDxCanberra brings ideas, theatre, thinkers, innovators and enjoyment to the region with some of Canberra and Australia’s most interesting presenters taking the stage to deliver their “ideas worth spreading”.
TEDxCanberra 2012 will address the theme “An Optimistic Challenge” and will take place on Saturday, 8 September.
