Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woollen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things
We’re delighted to announce that TEDxCanberra is returning in 2015.
On Sunday, 6 December, at the National Film and Sound Archive’s Arc Cinema, you’ll be able to attend TEDxCanberra 2015 – A few of our favorite things!
It is shaping up to be a magical afternoon of live presenters, performers, and screened TED Talks. We are working on a new shorter format to start early in the afternoon and finish with drinks in the early evening. The Arc Cinema is a smaller space than recent events, so we’ll have even more opportunities to strike up conversations with new and old friends, and share ideas. We’ll be back to our full-day format in 2016.
We want you to co-create this event with us by nominating your favourite TED Talks to show on the day. You’ll be able to do this when you register for the event, as well as through our social media channels on Twitter, Facebook and Google+. We’ll select the best talks for showing on the Arc Cinema screen on the day!
To nominate a talk you’d like to see on the screen on the day, celebrate your favourite TED talk and share it on Twitter or Facebook using #TEDxCanberra, or email your pick to firstname.lastname@example.org before 20 November 2015.
If you’re having trouble choosing, there’s plenty more inspiration on the TED playlists and TED-Ed, where educators team up with animators to bring you short, creative lessons worth sharing. You can also browse the 2000+ talks and TED-Ed videos on the TED library, so make your choice count!
Registration will open this Saturday for our mailing list subscribers (that’s you!), and Sunday for everyone else. Registration will cost $40. We’ll have more information up on an event site this week. In the meantime, block out your afternoon on 6 December!
Attending TEDxCanberra is a magical experience, and the best ever opportunity to see the talks given live, and meet many inspiring members of the TEDx community.
In the meantime, here’s some talks to inspire you, curated by Björk, Philippe Starck and Alexis Ohanian:
Bjork: 6 talks that are music to my ears – Björk picks six TED Talks that she simply adores, from a mushroom burial suit to a virtual choir of thousands.
Philippe Starck: 11 truly thrilling talks – Designer Philippe Starck handpicked this list of talks about science and design – ideas that spur imagination and inspire creativity.
Alexis Ohanian: 9 talks about the Internet – Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian picks 9 talks on the global idea flow. He says, “On an open Internet, where all links are created equal, good ideas win. Anyone, anywhere can share an idea that can be seen by millions.”
Yours in ideas worth spreading,
The TEDxCanberra Team
