Ticketing for TEDxCanberra

With just over a week until tick­ets for TEDx­Can­berra go on sale, it’s time for us to announce the tick­et­ing details.

Tick­ets for TEDx­Can­berra will be priced at AU$65 each.

This amount, cou­pled with the sup­port we’ve already received will allow us to cover our show costs includ­ing cater­ing, film crew, print­ing and the like. In accor­dance with TEDx licens­ing con­di­tions, we’re keep­ing this cost to an absolute min­i­mum. There’s no fat in that number.

Here’s how the ticket release will go. There are two pos­si­ble scenarios.

1. If the num­ber of peo­ple on the early notice list is less than the num­ber of avail­able seats at 9:00AM on 13 Sep­tem­ber, peo­ple on our early notice list will receive an email with infor­ma­tion on pur­chas­ing a ticket. They will have 24 hours to pur­chase their ticket before gen­eral, pub­lic release of tickets.
2. If the num­ber of peo­ple on the early notice list exceeds the num­ber of avail­able seats at 9:00AM on 13 Sep­tem­ber, we will ran­domly select peo­ple from that list to receive a notice email. If there are tick­ets remain­ing after the ini­tial 12 hours, any peo­ple who missed out from the bal­lot will receive an email giv­ing them the chance to pur­chase their ticket before gen­eral, pub­lic release of any remain­ing tickets.

Given the expected demand for tick­ets, there will be a few conditions:

• At 9:00AM on 14 Sep­tem­ber, tick­ets will go on gen­eral pub­lic sale.
• The pub­lic sale of tick­ets will be announced on Twit­ter and Face­book only.
• You will be able to pur­chase a sin­gle ticket only. There will be no mul­ti­ple ticket sales.

For the moment, it looks like sce­nario 1 is the more likely (and obvi­ously, the most preferable).
