Today, we sorted out our first real supporters for TEDxCanberra. We’re very excited.
First, Deloitte Digital have joined us as a TEDxCanberra Donor. DD are well known for their support of innovation and technology here in Australia and we think they’re just the right sort of folks to have involved.
We’ve also received support from a couple of TEDxCanberra Friends, including The Inquisitr, the Australian online news and info site that keeps us smiling, scowling and scratching our heads with its crazy mix of hard news and gossip.
In other news, we’re considering a number of suitable Canberra venues for the event. In mind at the moment we have:
- The National Library of Australia Theatre, which seats 297
- The Street Theatre, which seats 247
- CSIRO Optus Lecture Theatre, which seats 170
- Australia Academy of Science Ian Wark Theatre, which seats 220
There are a few other options, but these look like they’re about the right size and feel for the moment. We’d welcome suggestions for any other venues, especially if you think the venue would like to partner with TEDxCanberra for a better rate (or even free!).

Check out the various theatres available at the War Memorial.
I think the National Library’s theatre would be perfect for this event. NLA hosts an innovation forum there each year (similar to TEDx with featured speakers) and it works really well
Keep watch, Lyn. We’ll have an announcement in the next few days about venue. Exciting times.
